Even though obstacles and challenges seem uncomfortable as we're experiencing them, they are absolutely essential for our personal growth. Here's why:

Obstacles force us to think differently. When we face challenges head-on, we are forced to find innovative solutions that we otherwise wouldn't have thought of.

Obstacles provide clarity.
Unsure about what area of your life to focus on? Identify your biggest obstacle or disadvantage, then work on overcoming it.

Obstacles are blessings in disguise.
Think of all the times you've looked back on your struggles and realized they actually led to something awesome.

A personal note:
Years ago, I had trouble remembering certain self-development concepts on a daily basis. This small personal obstacle motivated me to translate parts of books I was reading into clear and simple language for myself so I could retain the information better. This led to the creation of @thinkgrowprosper, which has been the source of various successes and exciting projects for me.

How do you find your passion, path, or purpose in life? Here's a method that has helped me:

Start taking action on the small things that excite you from moment to moment and day to day. These things are the threads that will connect you to your larger passion, path and purpose in life.

BUT — and this is a big “but” — this process only works when you are truly honest with yourself about what genuinely excites you. There's a big difference between doing something that actually excites you and doing something that's just a convenient distraction from what you actually want to do. Learn to recognize the difference.

Truth is, it can be difficult for some people to face the things that genuinely excite them because they’ve ignored and suppressed them for so long. This isn’t surprising, since our society tends to equate doing what makes you happy with being selfish or lazy.

The more often you recognize and act on the small things that excite you, the more often you will be presented with larger and more exciting things to act upon. This is the formula for a magical life.

Don't make the mistake of ignoring the things you are drawn to just because they seem trivial or unrelated to your larger goals. It's not your job to know how they're connected, it's your job to take action on the things that spark your interest and pique your curiosity.

When I say this, people often assume their excitement needs to be in the form of some grand idea or life passion. It doesn't.

What I literally mean is: take the time to get in touch with the small, everyday things that spark your interest. Then act on those things to the fullest extent that you possibly can. Repeat this process ad infinitum.

Why is this important? Because these little things are the “clues” that will lead you to the bigger things (i.e. purpose, passion, etc). This process has worked for me, for many people I've observed, and probably for many people that you admire.

The tricky part is that people don't know what excites them because they’ve ignored and suppressed their instinct to act on the things that bring them joy in the name of being a “responsible adult.” We must lose this mentality if we want to create a magical life. In the words of The Alchemist, “The Soul of the World is nourished by people's happiness.”

Who can relate? It's amazing how many life-changing epiphanies and mindset shifts I've had while reading. Learning from those who have gone before me has been an invaluable part of my journey and learning process.

Although I love the process of reading, I've found audio to be a more effective learning medium for me lately. For the past couple months, I've been consuming most of my books through @audible_com and I'm currently taking several courses from @thegreatcourses.

As always, I listen to podcasts to fill in any gaps in my day. Some of my favorites lately are The @TimFerriss Show, The @JoeRogan Experience, and Neil deGrasse Tyson's @StarTalkRadio.

It's interesting to me that, as humans, we've been learning auditorily far longer than we've been reading printed text. Oral tradition vastly predates literacy so it makes sense that this would be an effective learning medium for some people.

What are your thoughts? What have you been listening to or reading lately?
