How do you find your passion, path, or purpose in life? Here's a method that has helped me:

Start taking action on the small things that excite you from moment to moment and day to day. These things are the threads that will connect you to your larger passion, path and purpose in life.

BUT — and this is a big “but” — this process only works when you are truly honest with yourself about what genuinely excites you. There's a big difference between doing something that actually excites you and doing something that's just a convenient distraction from what you actually want to do. Learn to recognize the difference.

Truth is, it can be difficult for some people to face the things that genuinely excite them because they’ve ignored and suppressed them for so long. This isn’t surprising, since our society tends to equate doing what makes you happy with being selfish or lazy.

The more often you recognize and act on the small things that excite you, the more often you will be presented with larger and more exciting things to act upon. This is the formula for a magical life.

No matter where you are in life, celebrate it. It's either a product of your growth or a place that will help you grow.

When I started to embrace who I was and where I was in life rather than always wishing I was someone or someplace else, I began to take on a more attractive and creative energy, which I then used to propel myself toward my goals.

The common denominator in anything you do is YOU. You are the money. You are the brains. You are the secret sauce. So work on developing yourself first and all other aspects of your life will flourish.

It's easy to continually distract yourself with bigger goals, but it can be difficult to appreciate your life as it is right now. Don't fall into the trap of never being satisfied with what you have.

This is an easy trap to fall into because for 99% of the time humans have existed on earth, being happy or content meant increased exposure to danger or death. We had to stay on our toes just to survive. And even though we're not being chased by saber tooth tigers anymore, that part of our brain hasn't changed much.

Here’s a simple way to appreciate your life more: Instead of dwelling on what you don’t have, think of how you would feel feel if you lost what you do have.

This isn't about being naive or pretending that negative things don't happen. It's about being aware that negative things happen but still having the courage to carry on in spite of them. Don't ever become so jaded with the world that you forget to notice all the good in it.

You become what you consume. And when it comes to reading, you become what you retain. On that note, I just wrote a new blog post on how to remember more of what you read. If you've ever read a book then months or years later couldn't remember what it was about, I highly recommend checking out this blog post. Link is in my bio ☝️

As you go through life, you sometimes accumulate beliefs, mental programs, and psychic baggage that do not belong to you. They may have been passed down to you through someone else, intentionally or unintentionally. Or, maybe you made a false assumption that turned into a limiting story about yourself or the world.

It’s important to cultivate stories about yourself and the world that empower you to be who you want to be and do what you want to do. Any subjective belief that holds you back from doing that needs to be looked at critically.

Take inventory of your beliefs and the mental patterns you follow without even thinking. Do they belong to you? Or is it time to let go of what isn't yours?
