Psychology tells us that we are motivated by two things: The desire to gain pleasure and the need to avoid pain. The latter is the often the more powerful of the two.
If you feel unmotivated to do something that you say you want to do, one reason could be that you haven’t given enough thought to the consequences of your inaction. In other words, you haven’t linked enough pain to NOT doing it.
